Dubai-based diversified group, Darvesh has announced its proposed plans to invest R200m ($28.99m) in South Africa's packaging industry over the next five years.

Commenting in pursuant to this strategic investment, the company said that it would build a packaging materials manufacturing plant in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.

Darvesh managing director Ahsan Hassan said that the plant will not only create employment, but also introduce highly sophisticated technology and equipment to the local packaging industry.

“Once completed, our facility will have the capacity to produce 15,000 tons of stretch film annually in the region,” Hassan added.

The subsidiaries of Darvesh include Nova Industries, Elegant Industries, Abou Nabil, Mega Star Trading, Fire and Safety Industry and Darvesh Technologies.
