UK-based flexible packaging firm Cliffe Packaging has acquired the polypropylene flexible intermediate bulk container (FIBC) division of bulk packaging firm Structure-flex.

Cliffe said the acquisition of Structure-flex’s non-core business will enable the company for further expansion and the division will continue to operate from its Norfolk base to use up existing stock.

Cliffe Packaging managing director David Dawber said the business expansion would provide a springboard for global expansion, particularly in the food industry.

"With the acquisition, the business becomes more orientated to the food industry. Cliffe already has a healthy business across a range of sectors, but this gives a major food focus," Dawber added.

Post acquisition, the company will be concentrating on the design and supply of reusable bulk containers for demanding applications and an increasingly diverse range of customer-led specialist products, reported packagingnews.co.uk.

Cliffe produces a range of FIBC, stretch films and pallet covers.
