Spar has contacted Appetite, a design agency, to revamp its own-label range. This designing is a part of a £5m marketing programme for the convenience store chain.

Spar has started the programme with redesigns of a number of products including ice-cream, sandwiches, salads and crisps.

In recent months many of the designs developed by appetite have gone on sale. Appetite is now revemping the designs based on the feedback given by the customers on the designs that are already released in the market. Appetite will roll out the new designs for the entire range of meals in Spar by September.

Appetite has offices in London, and Calgary in Canada. It includes major brands such as Johnson & Johnson, Cadbury, Tetra Pak, Capsticks, Cber Mentor, Anglian water, Enpure, HSBC, British Transport Police etc.

Susan Darbyshire, brand director of Spar UK, said: “Product development has been extensive on the brand range over the past few months, and products have been significantly improved. We will also be relaunching a range of frozen meals, meal accompaniments, condiments, prepared vegetables and desserts, following the success of last year’s revamps, which led to a three per cent sales rise.”
