Two companies that make up part of asset management specialist Linpac Group have joined forces to offer a range of RFID-equipped asset tracking packaging systems.

Intellident is incorporating its FastClick RFID tags into a range of multi-trip crate systems from Linpac Materials Handling (LMH). They can be incorporated into the full range of LMH’s returnable transit packaging (RTP) products – both to new and existing LMH foldable and fixed plastic crates, and to the company’s in-store bulk display units.

Laurence Tanty, LMH md, says the fact that both packaging system and RFID technology are from the same group offers customers “greater reassurance”, adding: “Linpac is the first company to offer integrated RFID packaging and supply chain solutions. Customers also have complete assurance that the RFID tag has been optimised for both asset and the application, and that it will operate for the life of the application.”

The two companies’ relationship dates back many years, but was cemented last October, when Intellident became a wholly owned company within the £1.2bn Linpac Group. Since then they have worked closely to develop joint technologies, with the RFID/RTP initiative the first ready-to-market fruit of the collaboration. Intellident says there are plans to further extend use of its technologies to other LMH products.

The LMH RTP products are designed “from the ground up” to accommodate Intellident’s snap-in packaged FastClick tags, applicable either at point of manufacture or via retrofitting. The tags area available in a range of frequencies, including HF and Gen 2 UHF, but are all provided in the same form factor.
