Sealed Air Shrink Packaging (SP) has redesigned a co-extruded polyolefin film originally developed several years ago as a laminate for beef carcass packaging and is now targeting it at sectors including industrial packaging, textiles, home and hardware.

Designed to replace traditional polythene film – it reportedly offers a much tighter shrink – CorTuff shrinkfilm has also been engineered to perform at higher speeds and conform to products better than other heavy gauge films. New extrusion and resin technologies afford “superior strength and tear resistance, excellent clarity and high free shrink”.

Sealed Air SP marketing director, Europe Helios Ruiz, says: “Two to three times stronger for the same thickness than conventional PE films, CorTuff is compatible with many easy-open systems and, we believe, will prove particularly popular for packaging heavy duty items ranging from kitchen worktops to electrical and industrial components.”

Sealed Air’s packaging design lab can conduct a current packaging analysis, re-engineer customers’ packaging using CorTuff and test new designs to their specifications.
