The growing popularity of smoothwall aluminium foil containers has led Amcor Flexibles Baricol to develop a new high barrier lidding film.
Baripet FL 45 is attracting interest from food packers handling meat, fish and ready meals for sale to consumers looking for convenient use in conventional ovens, the company says.
The lidding film is produced by extrusion coating a PET film with a combination of resins, which is an alternative to lamination and does not require adhesives or solvents. The film is “|exceptionally clear”, and 45 microns thick.
Baripet FL 45 is one of a range of films produced at Amcor Flexibles’ Somerset factory by extrusion coating or cast coextrusion, and used for products such as bread, frozen ready meals, meat and cheese.
