UK-based producer of foil trays and containers, Nicholl Food Packaging has announced the launch of the new barrier compostable vacuum pouches from Plastopil.

The pouches, manufactured from compostable coextruded film, Ecoex HB suitable for vacuum pouches and flowpacks applications, combine sustainability benefits with good product preservation and maximum consumer convenience for a wide range of food products including meat, cheese and poultry.

The film confirms to the requirements of EN 13432 for controlled composting, provides contact clarity, durability and sealability and over 70% of it is made from renewable resources.

Ecoex HB pouches are the latest addition to a wide range of vacuum pouches from Nicholl. Ensuring fast throughput and good sealing properties including sealing through wrinkles, the packs are easy to handle during the filling process.

According to Nicholl, the film’s strength and lightweight properties provide user-friendly benefits, while an easy-peel option can also be specified. Film grades are available for microwave and boiling to provide the convenience of cook-in-pack.

The Plastopil pouches balance the demand for ready-prepared foods with the need to consider a pack’s impact on the environment and are ideal for the convenience sector.
