Medical product manufacturer Thermal Custom Packaging (TCP) has launched Ice Buddy, a long-lasting alternative for cold chain packaging.

Made from phase change material, Ice Buddy is a non-traditional ice pack for distributors and individuals alike and can keep the contents cold and dry for up to 48 hours.

TCP said that Ice Buddy is not wet ice, dry ice or a gel pack, but instead is a cold pack that uses technology capable of storing and releasing large amounts of energy to maintain a temperature of 19.4 degrees F for several days.

Ice Buddy is designed for busy people who want to keep their drinks cool all day without having to worry about spills.

Its hard-shell construction makes it strong, sturdy, and rugged while also being eco-friendly.

Ice buddy is a one-time investment made of non-toxic and non-hazardous materials that can be reused for up to five years and readily recycled.

It does not emit any hazardous gases into the atmosphere, contributing to global warming, is safe to handle and dispose of, and is cost-effective when compared to dry ice.

The Ice pack does not require special handling, training, or costly hazmat shipping fees, TCP said.

Thermal Custom Packaging founder and chief executive officer Dr Clifford Glade said: “TCP has been developing and selling insulated totes and non-toxic Phase Change Material (PCM) Freezer packs since 2008.

“You can now have the same technology at your disposal with the Ice Buddy.

“We are trusted by the laboratories, hospitals, and healthcare companies that utilise our products to transport more than 250,000 specimens a day, including Covid-19 vaccines, organs, blood and other specimens across the United States.”

Earlier this year, TCP launched MedShield, a line of medical cases that are completely customisable for any company’s specific requirements.
