Sustainable paper and packaging solutions provider WestRock Company has purchased an HP PageWide T1190 Press to expand its portfolio of corrugated printing capabilities.

The 110-inch wide, 1,000 ft/min inkjet digital press is intended to increase value and enable customers to win from the improved print solution in the marketplace.

The press will support current offset litho, flexo preprint, flexo direct print, and sheet-fed digital printing processes used in the firm’s global network of corrugated box factories and speciality plants.

HP PageWide Industrial Packaging Corrugated GTM WW director Ted Samotis said: “We are honoured to have WestRock select HP’s digital print solutions to contribute to its innovative and sustainable packaging production.

“The HP PageWide T1190 Press will enable WestRock to disrupt the corrugated packaging supply chain and offer superior value to its customers.”

According to WestRock, reduced minimum order quantities (MOQs) will speed up retail packaging lead times while increasing overall cost efficiency.

Because of its built-in flexibility, the press support diversified, segmented and regionalised market launches and promotional programmes while meeting storage needs.

It is also feasible to use serialisation to facilitate loyalty and reward programmes, tracking, tracing, authentication, obsolescence, and product ageing.

The water-based CMYKOV when combined with tried-and-true inkjet technology is said to extend the colour palette and produce accurate, premium-quality, repeatable customer graphics.

Additionally, the responsiveness and flexibility of digital production are further improved by the integrated HP One Package software, said WestRock.

The T1190 Press will be installed at the specialised printing plant in Lithia Springs, Georgia, beginning in 2023 and will be operational by the end of September.

The packaging company provides customers with solutions for high-impact graphics, retail cases, and displays on demand with the help of its vertical integration in paper manufacturing, printing, and converting.
