Dutch-German company Drent Goebel has sold one of its first new VSOP (Variable Sleeve Offset Printing) machines for the North American market to Bell Inc, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The 10-unit press has a web width of 850mm and includes eight VSOP units, two flexo units, in-line rotary cutting with stacker/delivery system, an automated unwinder/splicer unit and an electron beam dryer. It can print at speeds up to 400m/min running cartonboard stock. Space will be provided in the press line for later addition of an EB coater.

The new press is to be installed next year in Bell’s new 56,000m2 converting facility. The company is one of the 20 largest independent folding carton companies in the US and claims to be the world’s largest producer of overnight envelopes.
