Valmet has signed an agreement with Cheng Loong Binh Duong Paper Company to supply key process technology for the latter’s new containerboard machine 23 (BM 23) at Cheng’s Ben Cat mill in Binh Duong Province in Vietnam.
Finnish technology company Valmet said the delivery includes approach flow systems, headboxes, a press section, a sizer, process air systems, a winder, automation systems and Industrial Internet solutions.
The order, worth between €20m and €30m, is part of the order that Valmet received in the third quarter of 2022.
Cheng Loong opted to invest in the new recycled containerboard mill to capture Vietnam’s growing packaging demands.
Valmet Board and Paper Mills sales director Marko Oinonen said: “The containerboard market is growing globally, driven by e-commerce and new packaging applications. Valmet has developed several innovative solutions to meet market needs.
“Our technical highlights and the production potential of the containerboard machine were the decisive factors for Cheng Loong.
“Valmet’s previous successful deliveries to Cheng Loong (the latest in Vietnam and Taiwan) have proved it can respond to their requirements.”
The delivery for the new containerboard machine includes three new approach flow systems, and three new OptiFlo Fourdrinier headboxes to ensure higher productivity.
It also includes an OptiPress Linear press section with a double-nip press with a linear web run and contemporary shoe press technology for high dryness to improve energy efficiency.
Valmet said the OptiSizer Film guarantees high-quality sizing with easy operation and installation.
The two-drum base winder from OptiWin Drum is simple to use and has a high capacity to suit the production requirements of BM 23 and TurnFloat web turning offers air turn for contactless web turning to improve runnability, said the technology company.
The supply will also feature Valmet IQ Dilution Profiler, IQ Moisturizer, and MD/CD controls for improved end-product quality, as well as the Valmet DNA Machine Control System (MCS) to ensure quick start-ups and greater production time.
