Labelling materials producer UPM Raflatac has completed the acquisition of Germany-based AMC (Advanced Methods of Coating).

The transaction will help UPM Raflatac to expand its product portfolio, accelerate its growth and strengthen UPM Raflatac’s position in Central Europe.

UPM Raflatac will enter new product categories including detachable self-adhesive products offered under the brands Print Inform and Global Notes, as well as Viscom/Graphics materials, which are now sold under the Intercoat brand.

Following regulatory approvals, the deal announced in May this year was finalised on 15 September 2022.

AMC has two production facilities in Northern Germany, at Kaltenkirchen and Hagenow, where it employs over 300 people.

UPM Raflatac anticipates that the transaction will result in considerable synergies.

UPM Raflatac executive vice president Antti Jääskeläinen said: “We are pleased that the transaction has now been closed and we can start growing together in the attractive speciality packaging value chain and offer an even stronger product portfolio to our customers.”

The acquisition is part of UPM’s ongoing strategic plan to support the company’s transformation and long-term value development in one of its three growth pillars.

UPM Raflatac operates a network of factories, distribution terminals and sales offices. The company employs about 3,000 people and generated sales of $1.9bn in 2021.
