Voith has received an order from Turkish paper manufacturer Kipaş Kağıt to install its XcelLine system at its Söke production facility.

Voith’s XcelLine will allow Kipas Kagit to increase its production of high quality board and packaging papers to 700,000 metric tons per year, with base weights ranging between 90 to 400 grams per square meter.

The company is planning to run the new system at speeds of 1200 meters per minute. Voith claims that the wire section is flexible enough to allow for the production of two-ply and three-ply paper.

An important priority of Kipas Kagit is to have high paper quality with high machine efficiency even in the case of low grammages. Apart from the machine should also be energy efficient, i.e. use less power, water and steam. Voith claims that all these criteria are met by its XcelLine system.

In the stock preparation unit of PM 1, several products of the BlueLine family can reduce the costs of energy, fresh fiber treatment, water and maintenance. In four stock preparation lines that feature processing technology specially designed for several recovered papers and pulp. It has a total production capacity of over 3000 t/day and conditions were created for manufacturing high quality paper products.

Apart from process machines, Voith will also supply complete water, sludge and reject system ant the main components for the treatment plant.

Distribution of stock takes place through three MasterJet Pro headboxes. The OnQ ModuleJet dilution water system, integrated into the headbox for the middle ply, lets the dilution water to be dosed directly into the intermediate layer.

The result is a uniform distribution over the entire height of the layer. The system can also improve its accuracy of control response in the paper web by more than 50% compared to traditional systems, thus allowing for an optimum CD profiles and high fiber orientation.

An important element of the Combi DuoRun dryer section is the EvoDry steel cylinders which allow several drying cylinders in the pre-dryer and after-dryer sections to be reduced. This helps in reducing the weight of the dryer section, saves money and electricity costs, while not having to compromise on the quality.

Apart from this, the PM 1 will be fitted with Tandem NipcoFlex shoe press with four felts and a downstream third press to improve smoothness, a SpeedSizer AT film applicator unit and an EcoCal Hard and EcoCal Soft nip calender. When the paper needs to be coated, it can be one using up to three DynaCoat AF coaters and DF Coat unit for direct coating.

Non-coating papers are then transferred via an intermediate Sirius winding system directly to the two VariFlex winders with two-drum winder technology. Voith will also supply the complete initial clothing for the PM 1 and three further clothing sets.
