Rigid packaging distributor TricorBraun has signed an agreement to acquire Germany-based glass packaging distributor Gläser & Flaschen for an undisclosed sum.

Expected to close in November this year, the acquisition will increase TricorBraun’s presence in Europe and solidify its position as the continent’s top packaging supplier.

With an experience of about 20 years, Gläser & Flaschen is a provider of high-quality glass packaging for the preserved food market.

The firm supplies mason jars, bottles, and cooking accessories, as well as glass packaging for food and other ingredients.

The packaging firm works from an advanced distribution and operations centre in Wustermark (Brandenburg, Germany).

TricorBraun Europe president Declan McCarthy said: “Gläser & Flaschen has built a strong business known for its quality, innovation, and technical expertise.

“We are pleased to partner with the outstanding Gläser & Flaschen team to offer more supply chain options to customers, while investing in their continued growth and expansion. We welcome Gläser & Flaschen to the TricorBraun family.”

Under the terms of the deal, the entire Gläser & Flaschen staff will remain with TricorBraun out and continue to work from their current office location.

Once the deal is closed, Gläser & Flaschen will start doing business as Gläser & Flaschen, a TricorBraun firm, TricorBraun said.

Gläser & Flaschen managing director Stefanie Burmeister said: “We have such an intense passion for our business, our talented team, our customers and suppliers, and our strong community in the preserved food world – we knew we needed an exceptional partner as we begin our next phase of growth.

“TricorBraun’s world-class reputation, paired with its focus on team members, service for customers, and emphasis on growth makes it our ideal home.”

Since its inception, TricorBraun has worked with management teams to successfully acquire and further accelerate the growth of 37 packaging firms worldwide.

Last month, the company agreed to acquire US-based Mark’s Barrel Company (MBC), extending its industrial packaging capabilities.
