Chesapeake Corporation company the Field Group has produced a clever self-adhesive cartonboard label, Trayfix, for specialist Irish organic food producer Greenstuff.
Designed to offer a robust alternative to traditional cartonboard sleeves, the label has been developed in conjunction with labelling machinery specialist Advanced Labelling Systems for automatic application to the film lid of meat, poultry, fish and ready meal containers.
Direct application prevents movement and the possibility of the label being switched or falling off in transit. As the label edge is perforated, the tray lid can be peeled away, leaving the product information and instructions on the pack.
The labels – UV flexo printed in seven colours plus high gloss varnish – can be made to suit all tray sizes and fully wrapped around the tray in contact with all four sides.
ALS says its labeller is able to handle 60 trays/min and can accommodate all standard thermoformed trays.
