Tissues with “the little extra” – enhancing consumers’ wellbeing and comfort

Product sophistication continues to shape innovation in the personal hygiene and tissue industry, catering to the needs of consumers for “the little extra” in these everyday products. A softer touch, a fresher smell and odor control are just a few examples. Henkel delivers a comprehensive offering to the hygiene and tissue industry with a clear vision to enhance consumer experience in health, wellness and comfort – matching needs in different countries and reflecting local preferences. Henkel will be demonstrating this commitment to promoting wellbeing by showcasing a new fragrance portfolio, which will be presented at the Miac trade fair from October 11 to 13, 2017, in Lucca, Italy.

Consumers have become increasingly open to additional features incorporated into tissue products and often demand an improved, pleasant scent experience. This is driving tissue manufacturers to seek solutions that address this market need – and thereby differentiate their products as well as grow sales. As a result, tissue converters have started to enhance their products with individual fragrances and aromas or other additives such as anti-viral and anti-bacterial substances. Also, product individualization and an emotional value that goes beyond pure functionality are gaining importance through new destinctive designs and features, for example.

With over 60 years of experience in creating fragrances for the personal care, beauty care and laundry consumer markets at its unique Fragrance Center in Krefeld, Germany, Henkel has accumulated a high level of expertise in this field and can respond to market demands accordingly. This becomes evident in Henkel’s new range of innovative fragrance technologies specifically created for tissue converters to be presented at Miac 2017.

Extensive portfolio of superior quality fragrances

This fragrance portfolio comprises seven scent families, 36 sub-family fragrances, and 25 unique fragrances. They range from floral, fruity, citrus to gourmand or oriental, and cover categories like herbal, natural, caring and aqua. “Within each family there are endless possibilities for a distinctive scent that can reflect the final consumer’s individuality and mood adjusted to preferences in different countries and cultures around the world. All fragrances are free from mineral oils, silicones and parabens. And, of course, they are sensitive-skin friendly – a precondition in today’s tissue market,” says Francesca Lucca, Business Manager Tissue Europe from Henkel. As another asset, these new fragrances can easily be integrated into the well-known Aquence Fiberplus range of products, which add softness, smoothness, and enhance the luxurious feel of the tissue products.

Besides these innovations, Henkel is also highlighting its range of Aquence concentrated adhesives, which are not only cost efficient, but also sustainable. At the same time they make new levels of operational excellence possible for the tissue manufacturer. Henkel’s Touch-Mix equipment solutions have also been found to simplify operations and significantly enhance productivity for tissue converters.
