Thin Film Electronics, a provider of NFC mobile marketing and smart packaging solutions, has launched CNECT software portal, empowering consumer brands to rapidly implement (Internet of things) IoT solutions.

The portal is a cloud-based platform that integrates the company’s NFC SpeedTap and OpenSense tags. It offers consumer brands, an easy and secure way to store, manage and track tags while addressing business needs such as consumer engagement and product authentication.

The SpeedTap and OpenSense tags are smartphone-readable and when customers order the tags, they can gain access to CNECT portal and its developer tools.

With the help of the portal, NFC tags can be directly integrated with items or their packaging and this allows companies to create digital identities for products and establish direct links with their customers with a simple tap on the phone.

According to Thinfilm, with the help of CNECT, each product becomes its own media channel. All of this tag data can then be stored on CNECT portal securely.

Products can be tracked digitally, real-time tapping activity can also be viewed and based on this, valuable consumer insights can be developed.

Thinfilm also offers a mobile application for brands which want to simplify the process of generating a digital twin for each physical product. In addition, the developer tools enable brands to create their own custom applications and services to enhance the consumer experience leveraging CNECT’s functionality.

The company is planning to showcase the new technology at the Mobile World Congress 2017, to be held between 27 February – 2 March, in Barcelona, Spain.

Thinfilm strategic marketing & GM software platforms senior vice president Christian Delay said: “Connecting physical products to the digital world is gaining momentum, but brands need a solution that enhances the consumer experience and optimizes the data it houses.

“The CNECT portal provides brands with the platform and functionality to deliver unique consumer experiences, build customer loyalty, and further digitize their business.”

Thinfilm CEO Davor Sutija said: “The launch of CNECT is a critical milestone for Thinfilm and firmly establishes our ability to deliver powerful, end-to-end NFC solutions.

“Along with our hardware and our tag converter/integration services, Thinfilm is able to offer brands, digital agencies, and other partners a highly valuable and affordable ‘one-stop shop’ approach in addressing their IoT needs. We believe this model is unique in the industry.”
