Initially rolled out for supplies to Wal-Mart stores across the USA, the box will enable fruit and vegetable producers to reap considerable benefits from using multi-trip packaging.

Experience from the Wal-Mart operation has proved that plastics containers can be used repeatedly, eliminating disposal costs. Some UK companies, already using RTP systems, have reduced packaging costs by as much as 70%. Once damaged beyond economical repair, containers can be recycled.

Made from food industry approved PP, the box’s robust construction reduces the potential for damage to delicate fruits and vegetables. The perforated sides allow continuous air flow to keep produce fresher for longer.

Up to 236 empty boxes can be nested on a single pallet, minimising costs on return trips.

The boxes can be incorporated into product traceability systems – labelling, permanent bar coding and RFID.
