Atofina has launched what it believes to be the first grafted polyolefin to produce perfect adhesion between metal foil and PP, particularly suitable for the production of metallised laminated multi-layer films used in flexible packaging.
Orevac 18370 is placed in the outer layer for cast PP (CPP) films. It is said to significantly increase adhesion between the CPP and the metallised layer. The adhesion is 5-10 times greater than in standard CPP, says Atofina.
With no delamination between the CPP and the metallised layer, the overall adhesion of the multilayer structure is claimed to be stronger, along with its barrier properties. Impermeability to oxygen and moisture is improved, which in turn can increase product shelf-life.
