Packaging and processing solutions provider Tetra Pak and co-operative dairy Warana have rolled out holographic packaging material in India.

The locally manufactured holographic packaging material is used for Warana’s one litre Ghee (clarified butter) packs.

Food and beverage brands can use the artistic package to add an attractive dimension to their packs.

Warana Dairy managing director Mohan Yedurkar said: “Warana Ghee is made from the best quality milk, with very good aroma and flavour.

“The Tetra Pak carton package protects the goodness of the ghee and is also tamper-evident, that helps minimize chances of adulteration and counterfeit. The Holographic effect makes it stand out on the shelf, making Tetra Pak Reflect the perfect fit for our Ghee range.”

Tetra Pak’s manufacturing site, located in Chakan of Maharashtra, will be used for the production of holographic packaging material.

With the main focus on Mumbai, Marathwada and Vidarbha, Warana Ghee in Tetra Pak cartons will be first provided to the customers in Maharashtra.

The one-litre pack, which is priced at INR570 ($7.6), is available across traditional and modern retail outlets.

Tetra Pak South Asia marketing director Praneeth Tripurari said: “Ghee is an intrinsic part of the Indian kitchen, and we are pleased to partner with Warana Dairy in bringing safe, authentic, high-quality ghee to the discerning Indian consumers, using our state of the art packaging and processing technology.

“We are especially proud that the Tetra Pak Reflect packaging material is now being made in India, at Chakan, making it a truly local for local offering.”

Warana, a dairy cooperative in Maharashtra, also exports its products to Gulf countries such as Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Sarah, African countries, Bangladesh and China.

In India, the dairy cooperative already markets milk, lassi and buttermilk in Tetra Pak’s cartons.

In November last year, Tetra Pak launched a new connected packaging white label app service to support brands directly engaging with customers and avoid initial digital development costs.
