Tekni-Plex, a provider of packaging materials and medical tubing solutions, has acquired US-based Keyes Packaging Group from Arbor Investments for an undisclosed sum.

Based in Wenatchee, Washington, Keyes Packaging offers environmentally-friendly and protective packaging solutions for customers in the food and beverage industry.

Keyes Packaging consists of two diverse companies – Keyes Fibre and Wrap Pack.

Keyes Packaging CEO Kevin Stangeland said: “We are excited to join a company focused on creating next-generation solutions for the market and the opportunities this provides Keyes Packaging employees and customer partners.”

Located in Wenatchee, Keyes Fibre manufactures moulded-fibre trays for packaging and shipping apples, avocados, eggs and wine bottles.

The firm is claimed to operate the largest moulded fibre plant on the West Coast, located in North America’s largest apple and pear growing regions.

Situated in Yakima, Washington, Wrap Pack manufactures fruit and vegetable speciality-tissue protective wrap for storing and shipping pears, apples and citrus fruit.

The acquisition will enable Tekni-Plex to further strengthen its offerings to food and beverage industry customers as the firm adds to its tray and flat portfolio.

Tekni-Plex consumer products division CEO Eldon Schaffer said: “Adding Keyes to the Tekni-Plex Consumer Products family also gives us a boost in our overall efforts toward providing additional sustainable solutions to our customers.

“Together with the recently acquired Grupo Phoenix capabilities, our existing Tekni-Plex organisation and now with Keyes, we are building a tremendous future for the market, our customers and our employees.”

Tekni-Plex will include Keyes Packaging Group in its consumer products division.

Earlier this year, Tekni-Plex agreed to acquire Grupo Phoenix, which offers rigid packaging and sustainable custom packaging solutions to FMCG brands across multiple categories and segments.
