Tekni-Plex, a provider of packaging material solutions and medical products, has acquired US-based M-Industries for an undisclosed sum.

Based in Michigan, M-Industries offers container vented lining technology to its customers.

M-Industries is involved in the manufacturing of complex venting lining solutions for products, which require air pressure regulation due to ingredients, filling methods, and the way they are shipped and stored.

Venting enables sealed packages to regulate internal pressure and prevent container failure such as panelling, bloating and leakage caused by e-commerce, active ingredients, rapid altitude or temperature changes and manufacturing methods.

M-Industries founder and CEO Karlis Mateus said: “The partners at M-Industries recognised that, to achieve continued growth and development, we needed a strong, global, industry partner with similar values and strategy. We found that the team at Tekni-Plex shares our view of the market, people and values.”

M-Industries is said to fabricate millions of vented liners and closures per week in a variety of materials and configurations.

Tekni-Plex will include M-Industries in its Tri-Seal division, which has expertise in closure liners and seals.

M-Industries will continue to operate from its current offices, staff, and manufacturing facility located in Ada, Michigan.

Tekni-Plex consumer products division CEO Eldon Schaffer said: “We are proud to have M-Industries join Tekni-Plex as we continue to strengthen our material science capabilities to help protect our customers’ brands and their products.”

Tekni-Plex stated that the deal to acquire M-Industries is the 16th acquisition that the company has completed over the past five years to support its strategy of expanding business through acquisitions and strategic add-ons.

Recently, Tekni-Plex agreed to acquire Grupo Phoenix, which offers rigid packaging and sustainable custom packaging solutions to FMCG brands across multiple categories and segments.

Based in Wayne of Pennsylvania, Tekni-Plex offers a variety of packaging material solutions, medical compounds, precision-crafted medical tubing solutions for customers in the medical, pharmaceutical, personal care, household and industrial and food and beverage markets.
