Process and packaging technology provider Syntegon Technology has introduced a new robotic pick-and-place platform called Syntegon RPP.

Designed to set a new standard in the automation of packaging lines, the new Syntegon RPP platform offers core functions such as quality assurance, user-friendliness and efficient production processes.

Syntegon food business unit strategy and product management vice president Dr Silke Blumer said: “We understand the food industry’s requirements for machines and lines better than any other manufacturer – from process technology to primary, secondary and transport packaging.”

The company has developed the new pick-and-place platform to automate process steps such as handling, feeding and loading.

The new robotics platform, which is designed as a modular system, enables the individual configuration of the robotic cells.

Designed as per the latest UX aspects, the new platform includes open control software that facilitates the seamless integration of the Delta robots into the line.

The stainless steel robotic cells of the system enable to meet the IP65 protection class, thereby helping to reduce the risk of contamination for both current and future hygiene requirements in the food industry.

In addition, the system’s tool-free format changeover enables to minimise downtime and supports manufacturers to process different products on the same line.

Syntegon robotics product manager Andreas Schildknecht said: “Together with our customers, we can automate single process steps consecutively and in line with their needs or budgets, following the principle ‘build as you grow’.

“Moreover, the platform can be scaled to suit different production capacities, while multiple cells can be connected.”

In January this year, Syntegon launched a new Sigpack TTMD cartoner, which integrates core technologies of the TTM platform with one or more seamlessly integrated Delta robot cells.
