Spartech, a provider of engineered thermoplastics and custom packaging solutions, has acquired US-based Crawford Industries for an undisclosed sum.

Established in 1959, Crawford is engaged in the manufacturing of thin-gauge extruded polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) sheets.

The sheets are converted into environmentally friendly products, which will help extend Spartech’s plastic products line.

Crawford has also been offering printing and converting services for 50 years.

Crawford Industries co-president Kendall Faulstich said: “Joining an industry leader with 14 manufacturing sites and a unique Innovation Center, a diverse arsenal of technologies, and enduring customer partnerships will accelerate Crawford’s growth initiatives.”

The acquisition will allow Spartech to create new opportunities for growth, in addition to strengthening its abilities to develop and provide standard and custom plastic sheet and packaging products to its customers.

Spartech CEO John Inks said: “It’s the beginning of a great and mutually beneficial relationship – Spartech has the desire and resources to help Crawford take its business to the next level, and they have high-quality, thin-gauge capabilities that will enhance Spartech’s existing product offerings.

“Together, we will be able to offer our joint customer base a wider array of products that we can leverage into new, more complete and more customized solutions.”

Based in St. Louis, Missouri, Spartech is a major plastics manufacturer of engineered thermoplastic materials and specialty packaging products. It has 14 manufacturing facilities located throughout the US.

The company’s product brands include UltraTuf, Royalite, Korad, PreservaPak, and Polycast.

In December last year, Spartech acquired US-based custom and stock engineered plastic films and bag products provider Tufpak.
