Opportunities and developments in water soluble measured dose packaging were the subject of a recent seminar in Dublin, organized by packaging research consultants Aquasol and the Irish Institute of Packaging.
A new water soluble product developed with Arthur W Clowes, Aquasol’s Aquaskin enables the consumer to twist the product off the backing board. It allows the product and film to be deposited in water as a whole, or the skin to be removed easily from the product. In both cases board and skin can be recycled within the normal paper waste stream without contaminating the system or furnish. This and the PVOH version of PeelAway were said to make the skin pack a worthwhile option for new packaging.
