Skanem scores with Pulse

Pulse Roll Label Products has developed Resil-V, a UV cationic release varnish that has enabled it to supply self adhesive label printer Skanem Cardiff with enhanced peel and reapply properties for combination labels. Skanem manufactures multi layered and multi language labels printed on filmic substrates for the health and beauty, beverage and car care markets. It uses eight presses that incorporate flexo, letterpress and screen printing processes to produce various combination labels.

Paul Jones, technical sales manager, explains: “The mechanical integrity of the label is a must. All combination labels must have a shelf life of two years and be able to cope with different demanding environments. Pulse worked closely with us on the qualification process and consequently developed bespoke inks and varnishes to suit our print process.

“This has enabled us to support a large UK supplier of carbonated soft drinks to effectively relaunch one of their major brands by changing from wet glue labels printed litho to self adhesive, printed UV letterpress.”
