Silgan Dispensing, a provider of triggers, pumps, sprayers and dispensing closure solutions, has introduced the next generation of its airless system called Pearl 2.

Silgan has designed Pearl 2 to provide all the benefits of standard airless systems, including formula protection from oxidation, 360-degree dispensing and a high-evacuation rate.

According to the company, the new generation system provides materials designed for recyclability, an advanced e-commerce design and broader technical capabilities.

The Pearl 2 airless system features LifeCycle Technology, a patented plastic spring, which facilitates the removal of non-recyclable materials and metal.

Silgan’s Pearl 2, which features an advanced design and overcap, holds the potential to withstand changes in air pressure. It will help avoid leaking during transport or air travel.

The company has designed the Pearl 2 to be compatible and deliver consistent performance across a variety of different formulas and viscosity levels.

The new airless system features a longer stroke length, which offers maximum dosing control in the one-handed dispenser.

Silgan Dispensing fragrance and beauty vice president Guillaume de Demandolx said: “Pearl 2 was designed with our customers’ needs in mind. Our focus in developing the product was on three key areas: sustainability, e-commerce, and improved performance.

“Sustainability continues to be a top expectation when it comes to packaging and was our first priority. Finding solutions that do not disrupt today’s recycling streams without sacrificing quality and performance is often elusive.”

The Pearl 2 is said to be certified by RecyClass to not have a negative impact on current European-coloured containers recycling based on third-party laboratory testing using the Recyclability Evaluation Protocol for HDPE containers.

The company is exhibiting the new Pearl 2 airless system at the Luxe Pack Monaco 2021 event, which is being held from 27 to 29 September.

Silgan is also adding new products to its post-consumer recycled (PCR) portfolio, including a new food-grade material option for beauty and personal care applications.

In December last year, Silgan Dispensing launched the Mini NEA line of sample-size solutions for lotions and other personal care products.
