Packaging equipment and services provider Sidel has launched its new safe PET aerosol container, PressureSAFE, to offer more environmentally sustainable dispensing spray packaging option for home and personal care brands.

PressureSAFE, which is intended for use with products such as perfumes and deodorants, will provide brands with an option of a pressurised container than the standard metal aerosol container.

This facility will allow the brands to select PressureSAFE in order to show their carbon-saving credentials while also responding to customers’ sustainability needs.

Approved for the traditional PET recycling stream, PressureSAFE maintains the product safety requirements to make it as safe as metal aerosol containers.

The design preserves the safe structure and guards against leaks, breakages, and roll-out during transit and storage.

PressureSAFE container base design enhances packaging performance through an optimised preform design and viscosity level.

The flexibility of the PET aerosol bottle can generate more design options. PressureSAFE has a one-of-a-kind container base design, for brand-specific proprietary components, said Sidel.

PET transparency also provides direct visibility of the goods as well as additional marketing opportunities.

The finished product complies with FEA and PARG aerosol rules as well as material requirements.

Sidel packaging & tooling innovation manager Mikael Derrien said: “The adoption of PressureSAFE aerosol containers enables companies to demonstrate their carbon-saving credentials, reflecting their own environmental commitment, while responding to the sustainability demands of their customers.

“We’ve taken our 30-years of technical design, innovation and packaging experience and translated this into the new PressureSAFE product.

“The PressureSAFE packaging base design combined with a specific mould base system, and the right preform design enables companies to maintain and enhance their competitive edge by being able to offer their customers brand-specific packaging that is safe, robust and environmentally friendly.”

The company also provides clients with laboratory bench testing to validate the performance of the package.
