Autobar Packaging has produced an innovative salad pot with shaker lid for the latest Heinz retail product launch.

The snack pot holds a single portion of salad and a 30ml portion of dressing in the separate lid, which also incorporates a disposable fork for ‘on the move’ snacking. Heinz Frozen and Chilled Foods packaging development manager Chris Barker says: “The salad is available with two dressing flavours and is designed to give consumers more choice between our sandwich and salad range. When sourcing the packaging we sought a supplier that could complete the project within our set timescale and provide a functional, quality packaging solution. One of the best aspects is the clip fit lid which makes a solid ‘clip’ sound when applied and reassures consumers the packaging is sealed tight and ready to be shaken.”

Autobar Packaging sales manager Barry Atkinson adds: “Starting volumes are around 5M pots annually, with the salads sold through corner shops and convenience stores. We hope that, as more stores list the product and more dressing flavours are introduced, volumes will grow.”
