Employing around 550 people, Sentez is engaged in the production of folding cartons for the food and pharmaceutical industries.

Operating a production area of about 55,000m2, Sentez also produces paper-cups and ice cream cones in addition to the offset, gravur and flexo packaging systems.

The pay-per-use agreement includes two subscription contracts one each for the 70×100 centimeter and 120×160 centimeter sheet formats.

For the two formats, Heidelberg will provide an all-in package which includes press, consumables, service, workflow, and performance consulting.

Sentez Group CEO M Süleyman Öncel said: “We weren’t actually planning any major investments in 2018, but the pay-per-use model being offered by Heidelberg will enable us to grow faster and significantly boost our productivity in a fiercely competitive market.

“The digitized solution from Heidelberg and the comprehensive consumables package providing peace of mind are also further increasing our level of automation.”

The contract, which makes Sentez the first packaging producer with pay-per-use agreement also including large format, is a part of the Turkish firm’s effort to speed up growth and boost productivity in the country.

Heidelberg digital technology management board member Stephan Plenz said: “It’s becoming increasingly clear that our use-based subscription model in conjunction with the Smart Print Shop is exactly what the sector has been waiting for.

“More and more customers in all market segments are keen to enjoy the benefits of higher productivity, increased flexibility, and a lower capital commitment. And only Heidelberg offers this combination!”

The Heidelberg’s subscription model allows customers only pay for the number of sheets actually printed.

Additionally, all the equipment, all consumables required such as printing plates, inks, coatings, washup solutions, and blankets are included in the price per sheet to be charged, Heidelberg.

Last month, pharmaceutical packaging specialist Rondo has installed the Heidelberg Primefire 106 to further expand its supply on demand solution.
