S+E invests in specialist coating expansion

Schleipen & Erkens, the world’s third largest producer of release liners, has commissioned a new coating machine at its Jülich site. An investment of over €3M, the line will be used to produce “highly specialized” silicone coated release liners.

Spokesman for the board Dr Jürgen Schäfer states: “By expanding our machinery capabilities, we are responding to the demands of our customers for thinner and lighter papers. The goal of the investment is to be able to provide even more application-specific solutions.”

The investment in new machinery, which required extension of the production site, will fulfil the increasing demand for double-sided siliconized paper with a working width of up to 2.35m. An additional application unit and printing unit will ensure that customer orders from across the globe are carried out “even more rapidly and flexibly”.

Under their corporate brand name of S+E Release, S+E in Germany and Silicart, in Bologna, Italy, have invested a total of around €5M to expand machine capacity at both their sites. This will enable the group to produce specialist silicone coated papers with complex superstructures.
