Austria-based Schur Flexibles Group has acquired premium packaging manufactures from the Clondalkin Group for an undisclosed amount.

The company acquired Cats-Hänsel with the two sites Cats Flexibles Packaging B.V., Rotterdam/Netherlands and Hänsel Flexible Packaging, Freital/Germany, as well as Nimax B.V., Elst/Netherlands.

The acquisition will allow Schur Flexibles to expand its presence in the sector of premium packaging for the confectionary and tea market.

With about 135 employees, the acquired businesses generated a sales volume of more than 30m in 2017.

Cats-Hänsel provides paper/film-based flexible packaging solutions for confectionary in the premium segment.

The company provides waxed paper and barrier packaging solutions, as well as premium-quality flexo and gravure printing technologies.

Cats-Hänsel produces Ecowax biodegradable vegetable-based alternative to traditional wax packaging.

Nimax is specialized in the manufacturing of quality tea tags and envelopes, in addition to inlay sheets for tobacco packaging.

Schur Flexibles Group managing director Michael Schernthaner said: “These companies fit perfectly into our growth strategy. In parallel, we are investing in our plant network to build up our highly specialised production locations further and thus creating additional added value for our customers.

“Our customers are now profiting from an even broader range of innovative, specialised and sustainable packaging and service solutions from one source, which we develop at our highly specialised locations.”

Based in Baden near Vienna, Schur Flexibles provides high-barrier packaging solutions for the food, tobacco and pharmaceutical industries.
