Plastic packaging provider RPC Sæplast has introduced a new storage container for the shellfish industry.

The depuration and wet storage container, Sæplast 405, will complement the company’s existing Sæplast 705 version. It offers a capacity of around 400 liters.

Designed to meet the market demands for a smaller size to handle multiple shellfish species at the same location, the new container features a unique patented water flow design with corners that are exchangeable.

The RPC subsidiary said that the container allows customers to incorporate different perforations or even no openings, providing the flexibility to be used for other products as well.

The company said: “In addition, the corners can be removed and cleaned separately if required for enhanced hygiene and food safety.”

Manufactured in durable polyethylene and polyurethane, the Sæplast 405 can be personalized with customer logos and specified with a variety of tracking options including barcodes, QR codes and RFID tags.

Additionally, the Sæplast 405 container provides the same benefits of the 705 container including the ability to be stacked up to four high on one pallet space to maximize storage.

RPC noted that the new containers have the same dimension as the 705 container.

In October 2017, RPC Sæplast announced the launch a range of round storage containers made from food-grade polypropylene into the European and American markets.

The roto moulded double-layered containers combine convenient handling while their exterior is tough. Their strong construction is said to guarantee durability for the long term along with an easy washdown, RPC said earlier.
