Rivièra Food Products in An Drachten, Holland, which imports "classic" Mediterranean foods such as pesto, olives and olive oil, then processes and packages them in metal-capped glass containers, has installed a sleeving system from Grahams UK.

In specifying an RF200 automatic sleeve applicator with a cross and vertical perforation system and a Graham steam tunnel, the company was seeking to give high impact, via colourful full body decorative sleeving, to the food range’s launch into Continental Europe.

Currently, two glass jars, 85mm high with a 57mm diameter and 135mm with a 60mm diameter, and a tapered glass bottle, 230mm high with a 67mm maximum diameter, are filled, capped and sleeved, with the sleeves covering the caps to make them tamper-evident. To ease opening, each sleeve is perforated just below the cap, allowing removal of a tear strip while leaving the decoration on the bottle in place.

The Graham RF range of compact, programmable sleeving and banding machines can cut and apply material to round and square containers at up to 250/min.
