Rexam has published its consumer packaging report 2003. ‘Global Packaging Trends, Facts and Insight’ includes a market overview, movements in individual markets – food, beverage, beauty and pharmaceuticals – packaging for those ‘on the move’, packaging in the future and packaging and the environment.

The report says the global consumer market is estimated to be worth around $300bn and has grown in value at around 4% per annum over the past eight years. Unsurprisingly, the highest growth rates are to be found in developing markets such as Latin America and the food and beverage sectors represent almost two-thirds of total global output. However, the fastest growth rates, by sector, are in beauty and healthcare.
