Rapak North America, part of DS Smith Plastics, has introduced Rapak edible oil system (REOS) line-side connector for commercial bag-in-box edible oil dispensing applications.

REOS is a screw-on line-side connector that links the compatible edible oil bag-in-box to the dispensing machine, helping to enter oil into dispensing systems in a clean and sanitary manner.

REOS line-side connector features special food safe components that can resist cooking oil and oil-based ingredients.

With biaxially-oriented nylon (BON) lamination, Rapak’s bag is both oil and moisture resistant.

REOS connector is suitable for commercial dispensing systems with constant evacuation, which are generally used by commercial popcorn makers in movie theatres or other entertainment venues.

DS Smith said that Rapak also provides a bag-in-box solution for edible oil that is used for other applications where commercial dispensing systems are not used.

The company added that bag-in-box packaging for edible oil and other oil-based liquids is a better packaging alternative to standard tin cans, plastic bottles, or plastic jug-in-box (JIB) packaging.

Bag-in-box packaging, which offers UV-light and oxidation protection, is said to have eight times lower impact on environment than alternative packaging formats.

In January this year, Rapak North America introduced new Autokap 1700 series bag-in-box liquid packaging equipment.

The small footprint liquid filling machine holds the bag fixed during the filling process. It supports fresh and stable liquids at hot and cold fill temperatures.

The fixed fill head on the Autokap 1700 filling machine for bag-in-box is a departure from the Autokap 1200 series machine in which the bag raises and lowers during the filling process.

In November 2017, Rapak North America launched EvacuStrip dip strip technology beverage bag for bag-in-box packaging formats.

The dip strip rigid and rectangular evacuation assistance device in the bag enable convenient dispensing of traditional post-mix syrup and evacuate pulpy juice or highly viscous liquids.

Rapak’s EvacuStrip can be used with NSF approved PCSS+ Line-side connectors, enabling to provide the full-system solution for bag-in-box dispensing.
