Rafsec raises RFID capacity

UPM Rafsec is doubling the RFID tag and label production capacity of its plant in Jyväskylä, Finland.

Timo Lindström, president of the Finnish operation, comments: “We are the first and only company worldwide with a fully integrated design and production process for smart tags. The additional production capacity will be installed and ready for use in August, right on time to address the growing demand for EPC tags and to strengthen our leading role in the EPC market.”

The Jyväskylä factory has a fully integrated RFID tag production process, including antenna manufacturing, chip attachment and

different lamination technologies. The production line is equipped with an integrated quality control system for real-time inspection throughout the manufacturing process.
