American marketing experience company Quad/Graphics has launched a sustainable LAMà Band packaging solution for its proprietary signage offering.

LAMà Band is said to be an easy-to-remove band made from the same recyclable paperboard used for the signs themselves. It will be bundled with LAMà Displays for delivery to the retailers.

According to Quad, the assembly instructions will be printed directly on the LAMà Bands.

The packaging solution will help remove 330,000 one-time-use paper instruction sheets, 330,000 plastic polybags, 660 paper-ream wraps, 132 plastic straps, 66 corrugated boxes and eight wooden pallets from entering the waste stream annually.

Quad In-Store vice president Kelly Burt said: “The LAMà Band is a testament to the innovation in Quad’s DNA. The company was founded on the idea that there’s a better way. This eco-friendly solution – which came from a ‘moonshot’ idea – is just that: a better way.

“This is another important step in our ongoing sustainability journey. I can’t wait to see what we do next.”

Developed by the Quad in-store division’s structural design team, this update to the LAMà Display packaging is also cost-neutral and removes friction for retailers by making the assembly process easier.

Quad corporate responsibility senior vice president Maura Packham said: “The simplest way to reduce waste is through innovative solutions centred on the principles of continuous improvement, which is exactly what Quad is doing here.

“We’re committed to advancing our own environmental initiatives and bringing sustainable solutions to our clients. These are intentional changes to our offerings that we believe will generate long-term environmental benefits and contribute to our bottom line.”

Quad provides a customised, impactful, flexible and frictionless way to enter the market and communicate with consumers.

Its integrated marketing platform is driven by specialities like technology solutions, strategy and consulting, data and analytics, media services, creative and content solutions, and managed services.

Recently, the company announced its plans to shut down the operations of its Leominster printing plant on Nashua Street. Quad will shift all of its printing presses from Leominster to locations in Franklin, Wisconsin and Spartanburg, South Carolina.
