At CPhI Worldwide in Madrid, Spain, Pylote and Amcor have announced a partnership to offer innovative packaging solutions for liquid pharmaceuticals that are more sustainable, cleaner and safer for patients.

The stick pack laminate has been launched after successful technical and regulatory compliance assessments.

The laminate material combines a high barrier with antimicrobial preservation properties and can be processed on standard stick-pack filler.

Pylote technology allows the removal of preservatives use in liquid products, with full compliance to global regulations, including US FDA, the European Pharmacopeia, and others.

The technology addresses the risk of contamination and ensures that patients receive clean and pure doses. No changes are needed to packaging design or existing manufacturing or filling processes.

Pylote CEO Loïc Marchin said: “The combination of our expertise with that of Amcor is a leap forward in providing solutions today that are fully operational, responsible and safe, with an immediate impact on security and comfort for patients.

“Our new combined, competitive, and innovative offer is the ideal ‘eco-friendly’ industrial and cost-effective answer to the regulatory authorities’ requirements, which are looking to remove the use of preservatives in various final products like liquid stick packs.”

Amcor develops and manufactures responsible packaging for several food, beverage, pharmaceutical, medical-device, home-and personal-care and other products.

The Pylote technology is based on an exclusive manufacturing process for 100% mineral microspheres that transfer microbial properties to the materials into which they are integrated.

In June this year, Cosmogen and Pylote have signed a commercial and industrial agreement to offer makeup and skincare brands with innovative accessories and packaging.

Founded in 2009, Pylote develops mineral microspheres to sell solutions which can be integrated into numerous consumer products.

Pylote’s clients are present in pharmaceutical, cosmetic, luxury, food or industrial markets. It helps them to propose end consumers with more eco-friendly products that are greener, cleaner and safer.
