Alcan Inc. has sold its UK Fibrenyle rigid plastics packaging business to Polimoon of Norway. Details of the transaction were not disclosed.
“Fibrenyle has developed a strong management team and a well-known brand in the European packaging market. We believe that in Polimoon we have found an excellent company to help ensure Fibrenyle’s future,” says Alcan Packaging vice-president Bas Ouwehand.
Fibrenyle employs 640 people at four factories in Beccles, Norwich, Sutton-in-Ashfield and Thetford.
Alcan’s decision to sell its Fibrenyle operations is a result of a portfolio review of its packaging businesses. Alcan will re-deploy its packaging resources to meet market demands where value-added and profitable opportunities exist.
