Indian glass packaging firm Piramal Glass has implemented Microsoft’s Azure IoT platform as part of its efforts to digitally revolutionize manufacturing operations.

Piramal Glass is specialized in the design, production, and decoration of glass packaging (flaconnage) solutions for pharmaceutical, cosmetics and perfumery, and specialty food and beverage industries.
The company has implemented real-time manufacturing insights (RTMI) solution on 46 production lines across its four facilities at Kosamba and Jambusar in Gujarat, India, Sri Lanka and the US.
With 12 furnaces and 60 production lines, the facilities have a production capacity of 1375 tons per day.
Piramal Glass has deployed the IoT to bring real-time visibility into its line manufacturing operations and analyze production line losses at various stages.
With the support of Microsoft’s Azure IoT hub, Piramal Glass captures data from sensors on production lines to identify quality parameters at each stage and gather insights on line efficiencies in real-time.

The Azure IoT platform allows Piramal Glass to connect and monitor their equipment to get real-time visibility into operational, and the technology integration has been designed to support existing sensors, equipment, systems, and data.
Microsoft partner Precimetrix has hosted its plant monitoring system on Microsoft Azure. The sensors on high speed conveyor lines have been interfaced with data acquisition devices to record key metrics.
