If you’ve been following our journey for a while now, you’ll know that we’re always finding ways to become more sustainable. Last year, we launched the UK’s first bio-based pouch, made with 80% plant derived materials, and we also became a carbon neutral company. This summer, we’re stepping up our efforts and leading the way in the baby industry once again by launching Europe’s first ever 100% recyclable baby food pouch!

Did you know that up until now, no baby food pouches have been 100% recyclable? This is because they are made from layers of plastic & aluminium.

Then why do all brands use pouches, we hear you ask? Well, pouches are a very lightweight packaging, which means that the carbon footprint associated with transporting them is significantly lower than some other packaging types, like jars for example. They also keep our delicious purées fresh for your little ones to enjoy.

Every year, there are 60 million baby food pouches sold in the UK – and all 60 million are currently non-recyclable. That’s why we’re so proud to be the first brand to come up with a solution which will make a huge difference to our environment. After 2 years of working with our supplier, we’ve developed a pouch which is made of a single layer of plastic, making it recyclable. Hallelujah!

Keep your eyes peeled for Piccolo’s campaign this summer, which will see you become the engine of change in the war against plastic! Let’s do it for the kids!
