For the first time in manufacture of one-way PET kegs, Hybrid utilized circular economy design emphasizing better recycling and reuse.

Hybrid kegs are designed as a more cost-effective and sustainable alternative to traditional stainless-steel kegs for use in drinks manufacturers like breweries and wineries. The keg offers a cost effective approach to enter new markets in domestic and international.

The snap-fit design used in keg’s making reduce the carbon footprint from transport and permits local blowing and assembly along with trouble-free disassembly for more recyclability.

It is also the only keg where the brewery can reuse top and bottom chimes.  The company claims that, in comparison with steel kegs, Hybrid is capable of reducing up to 40% of supply chain costs.

Petainer group chief executive Hugh Ross said: “Our team of polymer scientists and technical experts has developed the first one-way PET kegs which have been designed with end of life in mind.  This, and the significant supply chain benefits Hybrid offers, minimize its environmental impact.

“The Hybrid range provides breweries and drinks producers with a cost-effective way of building their brands in new markets and ensuring their product arrives in optimal condition.”

Petainer said that the range of Hybrid kegs are designed to back the brand’s reach out to new markets with better safety features like resistance to the punctures and accidental drop, increased burst pressure and functionality at 40oC.

Being just 10% of a steel keg’s weight, the Hybrid offers better stacking and handling for filling, transport and storage. Hybrid was tested for sea and road transportation with ASTM standards and stood it ideal for markets abroad.

The new Hybrid kegs are appropriate for usage in breweries and retail outlets anywhere in the world since it suits hand filling as well as most of the automatic filling lines. This makes the kegs usable without any extra costs while switching from traditional steel kegs.

Hybrid could be used like other products in the petainerKeg range with universal coupling systems, flat fittings compatible with Micro Matic A and G systems and well-type fittings that well match with Micro Matic S and D systems. Slimline Hybrid has been designed to fit in the standard kegerators, said the company.
