PetainerKeg is Petainer’s global family of keg products used by breweries for draught beer.

Blue Pet is engaged in producing bulk volume PET containers such as 5USG refillable bulk water packaging.

The partners plan commence manufacturing blow moulding plant in Tijucas, Santa Catarina, in the South of Brazil in early June 2018.

In addition to serving the domestic market, the blow moulding plant will become the manufacturing hub for the South American region serving emerging markets in Argentina, Uruguay and others, Petainer said.

At the facility, Blue Pet will be responsible for manufacture the core petainerKeg range, including the newly launched Hybrid keg.

The one-way Hybrid keg offers customers with universal filling, better handling, safety and sustainability benefits.

Petainer said that its one-way kegs are used only once and are fully recyclable, thus reducing costly, complex return logistics and washing processes.

Additionally, the one-way kegs provide enhanced product protection, ensuring that the beer is as good as the day it was brewed for over nine months.

Petainer Brazil country manager Ricardo Leonel Vieira said: “Bringing manufacturing to Brazil demonstrates Petainer’s commitment to the domestic market and the wider region and reflects the growing demand for one-way PET kegs.”

The firm expects the new facility to reduce supply chain costs, making it more cost-efficient to use PetainerKeg compared to other forms of packaging.

Blue Pet managing director Luis Matias said: “We have partnered with Petainer because we recognise the growth opportunities for its products.  One-way kegs provide a much more cost-effective alternative to steel kegs without any compromise on product quality and protection.”

Petainer said that the kegs will be sold through its strategic distribution partners KHS Brazil and N/Pack. It plans to add other partners in the near future.
