Petainer, a provider of plastic container solutions, has expanded its global keg product portfolio with the introduction of petainerKeg Hybrid.

The new petainerKeg Hybrid has been developed by a team of scientists and technical experts at Petainer with the support of partners such as KHS to meet the needs of users across the drinks industry, including beer, wine and cider, cold brew coffee and kombucha.

With universal filling and better handling benefits, the one-way Hybrid keg is said to offer lower total cost of ownership compared to other packaging formats such as steel and glass, as it can be filled, sent and recycled when it is empty.

The new keg can be filled by using existing equipment either manually or on semi and fully automatic lines.

The keg can also be taken as a kit and then blown and assembled at the filling plant in the local market, allowing to improve profits for larger breweries producing high volumes of draught beer.

Petainer’s new keg features an ergonomically designed top and bottom chimes, which helps in better handling and stacking.

The new PET keg can be used with universal coupling systems, including Micro Matic A and G systems and Micro Matic S and D systems.

In addition, the keg can be easily depressurised and disassembled through unclipping the chimes from the body.

Petainer is initially providing the new keg in 20litres capacity, as well as planning to release in 30litres capacity.

The company’s other keg products include petainerKeg Classic, petainerKeg with USD top and sleeve and petainerKeg Linestar.

Petainee Group technical support and NPD director Erin Corstanje said: “We set out to design and develop a versatile PET keg which provides the best user-experience and compatibility with existing systems which lowers the barrier to entry for draught products.”

Petainer Group chief operating officer Nigel Pritchard said: “The launch of Hybrid marks another step in our growth plans as we continue to invest and innovate to ensure that we are meeting the needs of our customers across all of our key markets around the world.”
