Packaging for petfoods

Alcan will present its petfood packaging capabilities at Petfood Forum 2004, March 29-31, in Chicago. The new combined packaging businesses of Alcan and Pechiney will serve as a one-stop shop for any petfood packaging need from flexible pouches and shaped retort pouches to aluminum and lidding options.

One item to be showcased is the newly introduced multilayer sealant film. It is said to use proprietary technology to produce a softer, more flexible film with better hot tacks and optimal seal initiation characteristics, maximizing throughput and ease of use. The film runs on vertical form fill seal machines to produce a four-side seal bag that also can accommodate a reclosable feature to preserve flavor and freshness after opening.
