European print and facilities supplies distributor OptiGroup has signed an agreement to acquire Dutch packaging distributor Packagegroup Moonen (Moonen Packaging) for undisclosed sum.

Employing around 80 people, Moonen Packaging is engaged in distribution of packaging solutions in the Benelux.

The firm designs, develops, sources, stocks, sells and distributes customised packaging solutions as well as hygiene paper, cleaning and catering products.

Scheduled to be completed during summer this year, the transaction is subject to approval by the Dutch Competition Authority.

OptiGroup pesident and CEO Christoph Sander said: “We have followed Moonen Packaging for a long time as a European leader in sustainable packaging, with a strong market position in the Benelux and a long history of developing innovative products and services.

“Subject to clearance by the Dutch competition authority, we look forward to working together closely. We will provide further information at the appropriate time.”

The acquisition of Moonen Packaging follows OptiGroup’s recent acquisitions three other packaging distributors including Telpak and Mercamer in Finland, and Proxima in Romania.
