OptiGroup has completed the acquisition of Dutch packaging distributor, Packagegroup Moonen, for an undisclosed sum.

With around 80 employees, Moonen is a major distributor of packaging solutions to the customers in the Benelux.

Moonen is engaged in the design, development, sourcing, stocking, selling and distribution of customized packaging solutions.

The company primarily focuses on offering cost-effective and environmentally friendly packaging solutions for the industrial and retail sector.

Moonen also provides its packaging solutions to the customers in the food sector, hospitality, catering and industry.

Moonen, which generated revenues of 51m in 2017, also supplies hygiene paper, cleaning and catering products to the customers.

Moonen Packaging, along with two other European wholesalers, formed NovuPak sales organization.

NovuPak has been established to offer personalized solutions in industrial packaging, enabling to meet requirements of European multinationals.

The sales organization has 45 locations in 12 European countries.

In January this year, OptiGroup also acquired three other packaging distributors, including Telpak and Mercamer in Finland, and Proxima in Romania.

Proxima Tapes and Proxima Comserv provide industrial packaging sales and services to the customers in the North Western region of Romania.

Mercamer and Telpak offer range of industrial packaging products, services and equipment to the customers.

The deal has been completed following the approval by the Dutch Competition Authority.

OptiGroup provides facility and foodservice solutions, industrial and safety solutions, printing and creative solutions and retail and reseller solutions to the European customers.

With net sales of €1.5bn in 2017, the group employs 2,100 employees and supports over90,000 customers in 19 countries across Europe.

The company’s facility and foodservice segment distributes products required for maintaining facilities, including hygiene paper, cleaning chemicals, catering and food packaging products, bags and sacks, skin care products, sanitary maintenance supplies and office paper.

Papyrus, OptiGroup’s branded paper business, provides printing paper to commercial printers, publishers, direct mail firms and the digital printing industry.

The business offers a range of speciality papers, including matching range of envelopes.
