Aluminum rolled products provider Novelis has said that it will expand its aluminum production and recycling capabilities in Brazil with a $175m investment at the Pindamonhangaba plant.

Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, Novelis operates in 10 countries with about 11,000 employees.
Situated in the Paraíba Valley between São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, the Pindamonhangaba facility is being expanded to better serve the organization’s beverage can and specialty customers.
The investment will help to add 100 kilotonnes of increased rolling production, as well as 60 kilotonnes of increased recycling capacity.
The investment will also be used to develop new water sourcing system and acquire around 90 acres of land for potential future growth.
Novelis intends to start construction on the expansion project at the Pindamonhangaba plant in February 2019, and is planning to complete in 2021.
Once the expansion works are completed, the Pindamonhangaba facility holds to capacity to produce 680 kilotonnes aluminum sheet per annum and 450 kilotons of recycled metal per annum.
The expansion project is expected to create around 50 new jobs in the region.

In August 2013, Novelis unveiled the first stage of an expansion at Pinda plant, which was completed with an investment of around $340m.
The expansion enabled to the production of 600 thousand tons of aluminum rolled sheet per year, which is supplied to canmakers, packaging companies and other customers in the region.
The Pindamonhangaba plant was opened in 1977 and has around 1,100 employees. It is said to one of the world’s largest integrated sites committed to aluminum rolled products and can recycling.
