Swedish label and branding company Nilorn has invested in a Zünd S3 cutter system to strengthen its business.

The new Zünd S3 M800 digital cutting table, which has been installed at the firm’s UK office in Keighley, will be used to produce packaging samples for Nilorn’s subsidiaries across Europe.

The investment is a part of Nilorn’s plan to continue to develop its strategy as market demands change.

Nilorn, through its has subsidiaries including in the UK, provides custom woven labels, care labels, accessories, trims and more to brands, retailers and garment manufacturers.

The firm also produces packaging, such as gift boxes and cartons for small fashion products like hosiery.

Nilorn UK packaging manager Andy Winterbottom said: “Across Europe, Nilorn subsidiaries send their designs to China and Bangladesh to produce packaging samples.

“The turnaround can be three to four weeks, or longer if something’s not right with the sample. As a result, we decided it was time to invest in sample-making equipment in Europe.”

Designed for a market with fast-changing demands, the Zünd S3 feature a modular design to allow users to choose configuration upon installation and make changes and upgrades at a later date.

Winterbottom added: “We saw the machine at the Zünd UK Ltd demonstration centre in St Albans and larger models at other factories on visits arranged by Zünd, and could see the M800 does everything we need it to do for our packaging applications.”

The machine provides options for additional equipment integration such as material handling systems, change or add tools, installing new software and invest in modules such the Over Cutter Camera (OCC), Zund said.

Other features of the Zünd machine, which can be used for a variety of different market segments and applications, include maximum levels of automation, robustness, safety, precision, efficiency and speed.

Additionally, the Zünd digital cutting table offers both immediate ROI potential and future-proofing, the firm noted.
